Founded in 1990 as an NGO, Compartamos evolved into a regulated financial institution and became a fully licensed commercial bank in 2006. Its mission is to eradicate financial exclusion by offering accessible and suitable financial products, including group and individual loans, savings accounts, and insurance, to the underbanked segments of the population. The bank is the largest subsidiary of Gentera, a purpose-driven holding company listed on the Mexican Stock Exchange, and is a pioneer in the microfinance industry in Latin America, serving millions of clients across Mexico.
