Originally founded in 1949 as Compañía Minera Milpo, the company grew to become a major Peruvian producer of zinc, copper, and lead. In 2010, the Brazilian conglomerate Votorantim Group acquired a controlling stake, and in 2017, Votorantim Metais and Milpo's assets were integrated and rebranded to form Nexa Resources. Today, Nexa Resources is one of the world's largest zinc producers, operating five underground mines and three smelters across Peru and Brazil. The company is committed to sustainable mining practices while producing essential minerals for a global market.
