Established by the Colorado General Assembly in 1931, the Colorado Public Employees' Retirement Association (PERA) is a non-profit public pension plan that provides retirement and other benefits to more than 630,000 current and former public employees in Colorado. Its mission is to provide retirement security and serve as a financial steward for its members, which include teachers, state troopers, judges, and many other public servants. PERA manages a large investment portfolio funded by member and employer contributions to ensure the long-term solvency of the defined benefit and defined contribution plans it administers.
