The company's mission was to make cryptocurrencies, particularly Bitcoin, accessible and easy to use for the European market, emphasizing simplicity and security. It was one of the first Dutch exchanges to implement advanced verification processes and proof-of-reserves audits to ensure user fund safety. In January 2016, CleverCoin was acquired by the major global cryptocurrency exchange Kraken, and its operations and user base were subsequently integrated into the Kraken platform.
