Bisq Network is not a traditional company but a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) and a software project. It provides a non-custodial, privacy-focused, and censorship-resistant platform for trading cryptocurrencies directly with other users. Originally launched as Bitsquare in 2014 by Manfred Karrer, it was rebranded as Bisq in 2017. The network operates without central servers, and all trade data is stored locally on users' machines. It has no central point of control or failure, and users retain full control over their funds in multi-signature escrow throughout the trade process. The project is governed and maintained by its community of stakeholders through the Bisq DAO.
