Originally founded to serve the employees of the Baylor Health Care System and their families, Baylor Health Care System Credit Union (BHCSCU) operated as a traditional credit union, offering savings, checking, and loan products. As a not-for-profit financial cooperative, its mission was to provide its members with favorable rates and personalized service. In 2017, BHCSCU merged with Credit Union of Texas (CUTX) to provide its members with access to a wider range of products, more advanced digital banking technology, and a larger network of branch locations across the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The merged entity continues to operate under the Credit Union of Texas name.
