Founded as a joint venture by a consortium of nine major European banks, including Deutsche Bank, HSBC, and Société Générale, we.trade Innovation DAC developed and operated a shared digital trade platform. Built on the IBM Blockchain Platform powered by Hyperledger Fabric, its mission was to address the trade finance gap for SMEs by making processes like bank payment undertakings and invoice financing more accessible, efficient, and transparent. The platform connected buyers, sellers, and their respective banks, allowing for the seamless management of trade transactions from order to payment. Despite initial success and expansion, the company failed to secure further funding and filed for insolvency, ceasing operations in early 2023.
