UMANG is a key initiative under the Digital India program, developed by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and the National e-Governance Division (NeGD). Its mission is to drive 'mobile-first' governance and make government services, such as provident fund details, passport services, tax filings, and utility bill payments, easily accessible to citizens on a single, integrated platform. Launched in 2017, it aims to simplify the process of accessing public services and reduce the need for citizens to visit multiple government departments or websites.
