Ulster Bank Ireland
Information by Research Trustfinance
Ulster Bank Ireland DAC was one of the "Big Four" traditional commercial banks in Ireland for many decades, providing a full range of banking and financial services to personal, business, and commercial customers. Established in 1836, it became a subsidiary of the UK-based NatWest Group (formerly Royal Bank of Scotland Group). In February 2021, NatWest announced a phased withdrawal from the Irish market, citing that the business could not generate sustainable long-term returns. The bank has since sold various loan books to other Irish institutions and is in the final process of closing all remaining customer accounts and ceasing its operations.
