The U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) is a development finance institution and an agency of the United States federal government. Formed in 2019 through the Better Utilization of Investments Leading to Development (BUILD) Act, it consolidated the operations of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) and USAID’s Development Credit Authority. DFC's mission is to partner with the private sector to finance solutions to the most critical challenges facing the developing world today, advancing U.S. foreign policy and development objectives. It provides a range of financial products, including debt financing, equity investments, political risk insurance, and technical assistance to support projects in sectors such as energy, healthcare, critical infrastructure, and technology.
