Originally developed by SGGG Fund Services Inc., a Toronto-based fund administrator, AlphaDesk was created to offer a modern, cost-effective, and comprehensive solution for the entire investment lifecycle. It provides tools for order management, portfolio management, risk analysis, and compliance. In 2017, the platform was acquired by Refinitiv (then the Financial & Risk business of Thomson Reuters) to enhance its buy-side trading solutions. In 2021, the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) completed its acquisition of Refinitiv, bringing AlphaDesk into its Data & Analytics division, where it continues to serve a global client base of investment managers.
