Originally founded in 2003 as Petplan, the North American company provided pet health insurance policies for over 15 years. In 2019, the company was acquired by the private equity firm Warburg Pincus. In 2020, Petplan partnered with the digital media brand The Dodo and subsequently rebranded to "Fetch by The Dodo" in 2022, and later simplified to "Fetch Pet Insurance". The company's mission is to help pet parents give their pets a happier, healthier life by providing extensive insurance coverage for injuries, illnesses, and wellness care. Its policies are administered by Fetch Insurance Services, LLC and underwritten by XL Specialty Insurance Company and AXIS Insurance Company.
