Founded in 2011, Peloton Technologies, Inc. was a Silicon Valley-based company focused on developing advanced driver-assist systems (ADAS) and connected vehicle technology for the commercial trucking industry. Its flagship product was a "platooning" system that used vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communications and radar-based active braking to link pairs of trucks. This technology enabled the rear truck to automatically follow the lead truck at a close distance, reducing aerodynamic drag and significantly improving fuel efficiency and safety. Despite raising over $78 million in venture capital, the company ceased operations in early 2022 due to challenges in achieving commercial-scale deployment.
