Founded in 1941 as La Junta Junior College, the institution was renamed Otero Junior College in 1956 and officially became Otero College in 2021. As a member of the Colorado Community College System, its mission is to provide a quality higher education that is accessible, affordable, and student-focused. The college offers associate of arts, associate of science, associate of general studies, and associate of applied science degrees, along with numerous certificate programs in fields such as nursing, agriculture, welding, and law enforcement.
