Established in 2017, the Open Banking Initiative Canada (OBIC) is a not-for-profit organization with the mission to advance the development of open banking in Canada. It serves as a neutral convener for a wide range of stakeholders, including banks, credit unions, fintech companies, and other financial services participants. OBIC's primary objective is to facilitate collaboration and dialogue to realize the benefits of open banking, such as increased competition, innovation, and consumer choice, while ensuring the development of a secure, stable, and consumer-friendly ecosystem.
