Founded in 1979 as a Development Finance Institution (DFI) in Sri Lanka, National Development Bank PLC (NDB) has since transformed into a fully-fledged commercial bank. It obtained a commercial banking license in 2005 after acquiring the Sri Lankan operations of ABN AMRO Bank. NDB is a publicly listed company on the Colombo Stock Exchange and is one of the largest commercial banks in the country.
