MSD Partners, L.P. was formed in 2009 by the partners of MSD Capital, the exclusive investment firm for Michael Dell and his family. The firm was established to allow other investors to co-invest in strategies developed by MSD Capital, focusing on areas such as credit, private equity, real estate, and public equities. In October 2022, MSD Partners announced a merger with BDT & Company, a merchant bank founded by Byron Trott. The merger was completed in early 2023, creating the new entity BDT & MSD Partners. The combined firm operates as a merchant bank providing advisory services and long-term capital to a network of business owners and strategic investors.
