HypoCoach is a digital health application (DiGA) and a certified medical device specifically developed for people with type 1 diabetes undergoing intensified insulin therapy (ICT). The application, a product of the German e-health company emperra GmbH, uses an artificial intelligence-based algorithm to analyze user data and provide personalized recommendations to prevent low blood sugar levels (hypoglycemia). As an approved DiGA in Germany, HypoCoach can be prescribed by doctors and its costs are covered by statutory health insurance providers in the country.
