Hydrogen Technology Corporation was a New York-based financial technology company that initially provided an API platform to help developers and businesses build and deploy sophisticated financial applications. The company later pivoted to the cryptocurrency space, creating and distributing its own ERC-20 token called 'Hydro'. In 2022, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) charged the company and its CEO with conducting an unregistered offering and engaging in a scheme to manipulate the market for the Hydro token. Following a federal court judgment in 2023 ordering significant penalties, the company ceased operations.
