In 2015, the company was acquired by BlackRock, the world's largest asset manager. Following the acquisition, FutureAdvisor continued its direct-to-consumer offering while also developing enterprise solutions for other financial institutions. In late 2022, BlackRock announced it would be closing the direct-to-consumer service to new clients and transitioning existing ones, focusing the FutureAdvisor technology on supporting its institutional partners.
