Founded in 2012 and backed by Y Combinator, FundersClub established itself as one of the first online venture capital firms. Its mission was to democratize access to venture capital by creating a platform where accredited investors could discover and invest in a curated portfolio of promising startups, historically an asset class reserved for institutional investors. While the platform was active, it sourced, vetted, and presented startup investment opportunities, handling the legal and financial logistics for its members. As of recently, FundersClub has ceased making new investments and now concentrates solely on managing its extensive existing portfolio of companies.
