The institution focused on traditional banking services, including deposit accounts and mortgage lending for the Greater Boston community. As a division, First Eastern Mortgage was responsible for originating and servicing home loans. The parent company, First Federal Savings Bank of Boston, ceased operations on August 1, 1993, when it was acquired by First Essex Bank for Savings, which itself later became part of TD Bank.
