The Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis (FHLBI) is one of 11 regional banks in the Federal Home Loan Bank System, a U.S. government-sponsored enterprise created by Congress in 1932. As a cooperative owned by its member institutions—commercial banks, credit unions, insurance companies, and community development financial institutions—FHLBI's mission is to provide a reliable source of liquidity to support housing finance and community investment. It does not serve the public directly but acts as a "bank for banks," offering credit products (advances), mortgage purchase programs, and other financial services to its members.
