Founded in 2003 by its parent company Ixaris Systems Ltd., Entropay was a pioneer in introducing virtual prepaid cards in Europe. The service allowed users to instantly create disposable virtual Visa and Mastercard debit cards to make secure and private online payments wherever these cards were accepted. It was widely used for online shopping, gaming, and other digital services, providing a layer of security by not exposing the user's primary bank or credit card details. The company ceased all operations and closed its services to the public on July 1, 2019.
