Originally founded as the Australian company Encounter Group (ASX: ENQ), it acquired the US-based social network MeetMe in 2012. The company later rebranded to The Meet Group, Inc. in 2016 and shifted its headquarters to the US. Its business focused on connecting people through a portfolio of mobile apps, including MeetMe, Skout, Tagged, and LOVOO, which incorporated features like livestreaming video and virtual gifting. In September 2020, The Meet Group was acquired by NuCom Group and merged with Parship to form the current entity, ParshipMeet Group, a leading global player in the online dating market.
