Originally established in 2008 as Dunia Finance LLC, the company was a strategic partnership between Fullerton Financial Holdings (a subsidiary of Temasek Holdings), Mubadala Development Company, Waha Capital, and A.A. Al Moosa Enterprises. It focused on providing financial solutions to a broad segment of the UAE's population. In 2018, after Fullerton Financial Holdings became the sole shareholder, the company was rebranded to Deem Finance LLC. Today, Deem continues to operate as a digitally-led financial services provider, offering loans, credit cards, and corporate deposit programs to individuals and businesses across the United Arab Emirates.
