Founded in 2009, CleanFund Commercial PACE Capital was a pioneer in the C-PACE financing industry. The company's mission was to provide long-term financing for renewable energy, energy efficiency, and water conservation improvements on commercial, multifamily, and other non-residential properties. By using the C-PACE mechanism, property owners could fund these upgrades with no upfront costs and repay the financing through a special assessment on their property tax bill. In December 2020, CleanFund was acquired by Petros PACE Finance, and its operations and portfolio were integrated into the Petros brand.
