CDC CLIMAT was founded by Caisse des Dépôts in 2004 as a research entity focused on providing public and private decision-makers with insights into the economic and financial challenges of climate change. Its mission was to advance the understanding of policies related to carbon pricing, climate finance, and the energy transition. In 2015, CDC CLIMAT's research activities were merged with the Caisse des Dépôts' Mission Climat to form the Institute for Climate Economics (I4CE), which continues this work as an independent, non-profit think tank.
