mx51 was founded in 2020 as a spin-off from Assembly Payments to bridge the technology gap between traditional banks, acquirers, and the modern merchant experience. The company provides a bank-grade, cloud-native platform that unifies terminal, in-store, and online payment services, allowing financial institutions to better serve their business clients and compete with fintechs. In June 2023, mx51 was acquired by its former parent company, Assembly, which is majority-owned by Westpac, to strengthen the bank's merchant payment offerings.
