Climate Engagement Canada (CEC)

Launched in October 2021, Climate Engagement Canada is a collaborative initiative that brings together pension funds, insurance companies, and asset managers to engage with Canada's highest-emitting corporations. The program's mission is to encourage these companies to improve their governance of climate-related risks and opportunities, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and enhance their climate-related financial disclosures. CEC operates as the Canadian-equivalent of the global Climate Action 100+ initiative, leveraging investor influence to accelerate corporate action on climate change and ensure a sustainable economic transition. The initiative is coordinated by several founding investor networks: the Responsible Investment Association (RIA), Shareholder Association for Research & Education (SHARE), and Ceres, with the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) also serving on the steering committee.
