Founded in 2018, BearTax was established to simplify the complex process of cryptocurrency tax calculation and reporting. The platform allows users to import transaction data from a wide range of cryptocurrency exchanges and wallets, automatically categorizes transactions (trades, mining, gifts, etc.), and calculates capital gains and losses. It generates the necessary tax documents, such as IRS Form 8949, making it easier for users in various countries to comply with their local tax regulations. In April 2022, BearTax was acquired by its competitor, CoinTracker, to consolidate their market position and combine their expertise in the crypto tax software space.
