Assuris (Canada)

Assuris is a Canadian, not-for-profit consumer protection organization that is funded by the life and health insurance industry. Established in 1990, its primary mission is to protect Canadian policyholders in the event that their life and health insurance company becomes insolvent. Assuris minimizes the loss of benefits for policyholders by ensuring a quick and seamless transfer of their policies to a solvent company, guaranteeing that at least 85% of the promised benefits are retained. This protection is applied automatically to all policies issued by member life insurance companies in Canada.
