Originally founded in 1934 as San Diego City Employees Federal Credit Union, Wheelhouse Credit Union is San Diego's first credit union. As a member-owned financial institution, it operates on a not-for-profit basis, returning earnings to members through better rates and lower fees. The credit union has a strong community focus and a unique mission centered on environmental sustainability, offering a range of "eco-wise" loan products for solar power, hybrid vehicles, and other green initiatives, in addition to traditional banking services like checking, savings, credit cards, and loans.
