The Medienverband der freien Presse (MVFP), or Media Association of the Free Press, is the central trade organization for the magazine and digital publishing industry in Germany. It was formed in 2021 through the merger of the Verband Deutscher Zeitschriftenverleger (VDZ) and the Verband Deutscher Lokalzeitungen (VDL). The association represents the political, economic, and cultural interests of its hundreds of member publishing houses at national and EU levels. Its mission is to advocate for press freedom, secure the economic foundation for independent journalism, and support its members through the industry's digital transformation by providing legal counsel, market research, and a platform for networking and innovation.
