Standard Treasury was a Y Combinator-backed startup founded in 2013 with the mission to modernize commercial banking through technology. The company built a standardized Application Programming Interface (API) layer that enabled businesses to programmatically manage their bank accounts, including initiating payments (ACH, wire), checking balances, and reconciling transactions directly within their own software applications. This aimed to replace outdated file-based systems and manual processes. In July 2015, the company was acquired by Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) to accelerate the development and deployment of SVB's own banking APIs for its commercial clients.
