Sozialversicherungsanstalt der gewerblichen Wirtschaft
Information by Research Trustfinance
The Sozialversicherungsanstalt der gewerblichen Wirtschaft (SVA) was the statutory social security institution in Austria responsible for the health, pension, and accident insurance of all self-employed individuals in trade and commerce. Established to provide a social safety net for entrepreneurs and business owners, it managed mandatory contributions and benefit payments. On January 1, 2020, as part of a major structural reform of Austria's social security system, the SVA merged with the Sozialversicherungsanstalt der Bauern (SVB), the social insurance institution for farmers, to form the new Sozialversicherungsanstalt der Selbständigen (SVS). The SVS now serves as the single, comprehensive social insurance provider for all self-employed people in Austria.
