Information by Research TrustFinance
The S&P BSE SENSEX (often referred to as Sensex) is the benchmark index for the Indian stock market. First compiled in 1986, it is the oldest stock index in India. It is composed of 30 of the largest and most actively traded stocks on the BSE, providing a gauge of India's economy. The index is calculated and maintained by S&P Dow Jones Indices, a joint venture between S&P Global and the CME Group, in partnership with BSE Ltd. The Sensex is not a company that offers services directly, but rather a financial product and key market indicator managed by BSE Ltd.
