OneWest Bank, N.A. was founded in 2009 to acquire the assets of the failed IndyMac Bank. Headquartered in Pasadena, California, it grew to become one of the largest banks in the Southern California region, providing a range of personal and commercial banking services, including mortgage lending and servicing. In 2015, the bank was acquired by CIT Group. Subsequently, CIT Group was acquired by First Citizens BancShares, Inc. in a deal that closed in January 2022, and all OneWest and CIT Bank branches and services were fully rebranded under the First Citizens Bank name.
