Founded in 1919, The National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors (NBBI) is an organization committed to promoting greater safety for life and property through uniformity in the construction, installation, repair, inspection, and operation of pressure equipment. It establishes uniform qualifications for inspectors and repair organizations, sets standards and codes (such as the National Board Inspection Code), and provides internationally recognized training and certification programs. The organization also issues the widely recognized "R", "VR", and "NR" stamps to qualified organizations for the repair and alteration of pressure-retaining items.
