mvelopes
Information by Research TrustFinance
Founded in 2001, Mvelopes was a pioneer in digital budgeting software based on the proven envelope system. The application allowed users to create a budget by assigning their income to various digital "envelopes" for different spending categories, track their spending by linking bank accounts, and work towards financial goals like paying off debt. In 2014, the company was acquired by Finicity, a leading provider of real-time financial data access. Finicity itself was later acquired by Mastercard in 2020. After several years under the Finicity and Mastercard umbrella, the Mvelopes service was officially discontinued, with the platform shutting down for all users on December 29, 2023.
