Founded in 2005, The Middle East Investment Initiative (MEII) is a U.S.-based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that designs and implements innovative development finance programs. Its core mission is to alleviate unemployment in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region by fostering economic growth and opportunity. MEII achieves this by working with local banks to provide loan guarantees and technical assistance, which reduces the risk for lenders and enables them to extend credit to underserved SMEs, a critical engine for job creation. Through its various programs, MEII has helped facilitate hundreds of millions of dollars in financing to thousands of businesses across the region.
