Originally registered in 1993 as Limuru A.I. Sacco to serve employees of the Central Artificial Insemination Station (C.A.I.S), the organization rebranded to Limlak Sacco Society in 2012 to open its membership to the general public. Its mission is to mobilize savings and provide affordable financial products and services to empower its members economically and socially. The Sacco offers a range of financial products, including standard Back Office Services Activity (BOSA) for savings and loans, as well as Front Office Services Activity (FOSA) which provides accessible, bank-like services. In addition to its core Sacco operations, it runs an insurance agency to provide further financial security to its members.
