Founded in 1983, Karvy Group grew to become one of India's largest and most diversified financial services companies. Headquartered in Hyderabad, the group provided a vast array of services, with its flagship business being Karvy Stock Broking Ltd. (KSBL). Its operations spanned retail and institutional stock broking, depository participant services, wealth management, investment banking, and registrar and transfer agent services. At its peak, it served millions of retail investors. However, in 2019, the group was embroiled in a massive scandal involving the illegal pledging of client securities, which led to severe regulatory action, the cancellation of its broking license, and the eventual dismantling of the group.
