JOLED Inc. was established in 2015, integrating the organic light-emitting diode (OLED) display development divisions of Sony and Panasonic with support from the Innovation Network Corporation of Japan (INCJ) and Japan Display Inc. (JDI). The company's mission was to commercialize and mass-produce medium-sized, high-resolution OLED displays through a proprietary, cost-effective RGB printing method. Despite its technological advancements and shipping products for medical monitors, automotive displays, and high-end monitors, the company faced challenges in securing sufficient funding and scaling production. On March 27, 2023, JOLED filed for civil rehabilitation in Japan, and its core business and technology assets were subsequently transferred to Japan Display Inc. (JDI).
