Founded in 2011 by Jamie Shulman and Jamie McDonald, Hubdoc was created to eliminate manual data entry for accountants, bookkeepers, and small businesses. The platform automates the process of collecting and processing financial documents like bills, receipts, and statements by fetching them from online sources or user uploads and then extracting the key data using OCR technology. In July 2018, Hubdoc was acquired by the global cloud accounting software company, Xero. It is now deeply integrated into the Xero ecosystem and is included with many Xero subscription plans, continuing its mission to streamline bookkeeping and make accounting more efficient.
