Founded in 2005 by Bennett Goodman, Tripp Smith, and Doug Ostrover, GSO Capital Partners grew to become a major credit-oriented alternative asset manager. In 2008, the firm was acquired by The Blackstone Group. For years it operated as the credit division of Blackstone, specializing in a broad range of credit strategies, including leveraged loans, high-yield bonds, distressed debt, and mezzanine lending. In 2020, Blackstone fully integrated GSO and rebranded it as Blackstone Credit to unify its brand identity and reflect the platform's full integration into the parent company. Today, as Blackstone Credit, it continues its mission as a leading global credit investment platform.
