Founded in 1952, First Flight was originally chartered to serve the civil service employees at the Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, in Havelock, North Carolina. As a not-for-profit, member-owned financial cooperative, its mission is to provide members with a full suite of competitive financial products and services, including savings and checking accounts, personal loans, mortgages, and investment services, returning profits to members through better rates and lower fees. Membership has since expanded and is now open to anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school in several designated counties in North and South Carolina.
