Danajamin Nasional Berhad was established by the Government of Malaysia in May 2009 as the nation's first financial guarantee insurer. Its primary mission was to provide credit enhancement for bonds and sukuk issuances, thereby making it easier for Malaysian companies, particularly those in strategic sectors, to access the capital markets for funding. By guaranteeing these debt instruments, Danajamin helped lower the cost of borrowing and encouraged investment in the local corporate bond market. As part of a broader government initiative to restructure and consolidate Malaysia's Development Financial Institutions (DFIs), Danajamin's functions were officially absorbed into Prokhas Sdn Bhd (a company wholly-owned by the Minister of Finance Incorporated) effective from 1 March 2023.
