Colorado Housing and Finance Authority
Information by Research TrustFinance
Created in 1973 by the Colorado General Assembly, the Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA) is a quasi-governmental entity and a self-sustaining public enterprise. Its mission is to finance the places where people live and work. CHFA achieves this by offering a variety of financial products and services, including homeownership loans and down payment assistance for homebuyers, financing for the development and preservation of affordable rental housing, and capital for small and medium-sized businesses. The organization does not use state tax dollars, instead funding its programs through the sale of tax-exempt private activity bonds.
