Established by an Act of Parliament in 1966, the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) is the apex financial institution in Kenya. Its primary mandate is to maintain price stability by formulating and implementing effective monetary policy. The CBK's key functions include issuing Kenya's currency, acting as the banker and financial advisor to the Government, regulating and supervising the banking sector, and managing the country's foreign exchange reserves. Its mission is to promote and maintain a stable and efficient monetary and financial system to support sustainable economic development in Kenya.
